Things are going great here in the North Country... Kallie and Kelvin are growing so much and there are new discoveries each and every day. Being a paraent is quite a lot of work, but it is the most rewarding endeavor of our lives!

A lost can happen in two years... We have added a new member to our family - Kallie Ann Kloosterman. She was born on January 20, 2010 weighing in at 8 lbs 12 oz and 22 inches long. She is absolutley beautiful, a bit prejudice I might be. Kelvin is already a smitten big brother.

I am hoping to begin blogging again...thank you for hanging in there.

Hello! I am so sorry that it has been FOREVER since I've posted. Life has been a little crazy, and I can't begin to say how much a little guy can change your life! For those who don't know... we had our son and moved into a house all within 4 days. I left for the hospital living in one place and came home from the hospital living in another... How crazy - and I don't suggest it. But we didn't really expect it either b/c Kelvin was born 3 weeks early!

Here are some pics of us moving. We had wonderful help from all our friends moving since I couldn't do much of anything. (See the big belly?) Kevin is practicing pushing the stroller...

Boys First Win!

We got our first "W" Tuesday night against The Leelanau School! Our goal at half time was to score 70 and keep them under 35. The final score was 70-34! They played a great game! We even made the 11:00 news! Check out the link below to watch the video clip!

Varsity and JV Boys Basketball Season Opener

We had our boys season opener last night! And even though the outcome wasn't how I had wished, we definitely have potential and drive! The guys played great - and even though we lost, we made quite a few good runs and only lost by 9. The guys never gave up and never quit trying... we even outscored them in the 4th quarter 24-18.

She is absolutely adorable...

her hands are so tiny and she smells so good!

Of course we all had to take turns holding her.

Time spent together, even after graduating 6 years ago, is still so much fun...

14 Weeks

Family Time

We met my family in Big Rapids today for a picnic lunch. There is a great little park on the Muskegon River and it was a place centrally located between Zeeland and TC. We finally got to see my sisters engagement ring! Plus we got to congradulate Heather on passing her nursing boards. It was a great relaxing afternoon just spending time as a family!

Geocaching with the Girls!

Sacha, Kristi and I opted for a "football-less" Friday night in exchange for some some great girl time! We went geocaching on the Leelanau Peninsula. For those of you who don't know, geocaching is like a treasure hunt! The way to find the caches is by latitude and longitude coordinates. It's a great activity to get you outside and enjoying the great outdoors! Plus, you will see parts of the world (or county) that you have never seen!

Our favorite cache brought us to a cemetery in the middle of leelanau county and referenced the movie "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly". We had to mark of paces in certain cardinal directions and everything! It was a blast! Another favorite brought us to a little park on Lime Lake - what a beautiful inland lake! We didn't even really know it was there!

Last Boat Ride...

We went up to Suttons Bay for our last boat ride for the summer. Jamie and Scott ventured along. It was cool, but a lot of fun. We ate at good 'ole Eddies!

We were going to get ice cream, but noticed there were storm clouds rolling in, so we decided we'd better head back to TC. The waves were choppy and the clouds were on our tail the whole way home. It was a little scary, but it only started pouring as we were loading the boat on the trailer... A good end to a boating summer!

I had my first ultrasound yesterday! It was so exciting and it made everything seem so real. The miracle of it all is so overwhelming - God is so Good!!
In one pose the baby was looking right at us and arms and legs were just a flailing around! Kevin said "he" was stretching for football practice already! I said that "she" was probably just getting ready for ballet!

The doctor said everything looked great and the heartbeat was strong. We couldn't have asked for things to go better... Praise God! We are so excited!

The Buckley Old Engine Show

Thursday morning, Kevin and I took our Farmall Super C and grandma's Farmall A to the show. What an experience! I have never seen so many tractors in one place. Any tractor could be displayed at the show as as long as it was made before 1970. My parents came up for the day and we walked around all day and took in the sights from watching old tractors thrash wheat to the making of homemade ice cream! We had a blast!

On Friday night we went to the show with Kevin's parents and Molly. She loved being on the tractor!

The wedding was so much fun! We had a great time and Heather and Travis are very happy! They headed off to Mexico for a week of activities and relaxation. Congrats you two!

Cherry Festival 2007!

Cherry Festival was a big hit again this year! My parents and Jodi and Jeremie came down for the first weekend of CF. We walked around and took in a lot of the activities - especially the people watching part! We had pizza down town (top pics). We also headed up to Suttons Bay on the boat after watching the air show (bottom pics). It was a great to see them and spend some time with them! Thanks for coming up guys!

We also took in the wonderful nightly concerts. Tuesday night brought Emerson Drive to town. They were awesome! I tried to leave the house with my cowboy boots on and my hat, but Kevin said he wouldn't go with me unless I left both of those accessories at home! The picture is of Emerson Drive on stage. We met a couple of my students there too (see pics). We had a blast!

On Friday night, Kelly Pickler performed. We knew the place would be swamped, so we listened from the boat! The pics on the boat are from that night. Joe and Grace, Amy, Sacha, Kevin and I were all jamming to KP!

I think I've updated our blog now... it's been a little crazy over here, but we're enjoying life and enjoying each other... We love TC in the summer and would love it if you would come up to visit! Our Garden

Kevin and I planted a garden this summer in the back yard. When we planted it, we thought we put enought space in between everything. And we did have enough space (as seen by the first picture) until about a week ago. Now our garden is extremely intertwined (see next pic)! We have cucumbers in the rows of corn, cantelope and watermelon mixed with pumpkins and our beans and onions are being over taken by the 8' x 14' "hedge" of tomatoes! Not to mention the squash plants that have 10' "tentacles" stretching over the ground! I have no idea how I will even pick the vegetables when they are ready. I think I'll have to have Kevin suspend me somehow over the garden!

Travis and Heather are getting married Aug 4. Boy the time has just flown by with showers and all the preppings for the wedding. Here are a few pics from their showers and Heathers bachelorette party. We are soo happy for them and are so excited to have Heather in the family! We are happy to have her carrying the "DeVree" name!

Fishing on Cedar Lake

One night Kevin, Joe (Kevin's cousin), and I went fishing on Cedar Lake. It was a beautiful night! We didn't catch anything worth keeping, in fact, I think I caught the world's smallest bass! (see pic) But Joe did catch one that made up for it! We had a lot of fun!

All-American Summer Pastime - Traverse City Beach Bums

Traverse City Beach Bums are the local professional team here in TC. We love going to the games. The stadium is awesome! I would definitely recommend going to a game if you are ever in the area! Kevin and I went to one game with Grandma VanderLaan and a few other games with family and friends. We got to hang out with baby Molly this weekend. She is growing so fast! She's taking her bath in mom and pa K's sink. Kevin is not sure what to think, but the way she is looking at him, I don't think she does either! ;-) Molly will be 1 May 30!

Last weekend we chaperoned Chalice (TCCS "prom"). We had a lot of fun! Christie and Jeff were chaperones too... Christie got a teaching job in Arizona for next school year - I am sure going to miss her!

We are doing fairly well - mostly exhausted lately...

Kevin is trying to keep afloat working at UPS from 4-9am and then doing the lawn care thing until practice time or games. I have about 15 days until summer break and I can't wait!

We are pretty much running on fumes until the beginnig of June when softball and school are done!

Even though our SB Softball team doesn't show a winning record, they are improving everyday. We are averaging 6 games a week, which accounts for us getting home past 9:30 most nights and the laundry pile that is in the laundry room!

We do love the weather (finally) up here - we got our first big thunderstorm last night and it was wonderful! TC is so beautiful...

Happy Mother's Day to both of our moms! It was so great that you all could come over for dinner. Mom and Dad DeVree, thanks for taking the time to drive up here! Thank you too Travis & Heather and Jodi & Jeremie for making the trip up to TC!

We hope you had fun playing softball - were are so thankful that you guys didn't mind subing on our team! We both had a blast!
